REPUBLIC, Mo. (KNOU)- Missouri resident Richard Bottorf, has set a new record for the largest grown pumpkin in the state.

If you've taken a trip to any of the local pumpkin patches recently, you might have seen your fair share of large pumpkins.

However, none can compare in size to Bottorf's pumpkin weighing in at 1,798 pounds.

In an interview two years ago when he set the previous state record, Bottorf said, "The best part is the little kids when they see the weight, and see how the pumpkin looks and they can stand by it and it's bigger than they are. It's pretty fun."
