CLAYTON, Mo. (NOW) - Rapper Lil Wayne canceled his St. Louis show planned for Saturday night, after an early-morning incident at The Ritz-Carlton hotel in Clayton.

Clayton Police say after getting complaints about marijuana odor coming from his room, they asked him to open the balcony door. Wayne claims to have been kicked out of the hotel, but Clayton police say Weezy was never asked to leave, they just bounced after a verbal dispute with the hotel staff.

Smith says police were called to the Ritz around 10:00 a.m. Saturday due to a "disturbance" in the lobby involving several men. TMZ reports, a responding officer saw a man in Wayne's security yelling at a clerk behind the desk.

After police de-escalated the situation, the performer and his crew got on their bus and left.

Lil Wayne was set to perform at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre with B-182 and Neck Deep. They still played without the rapper.
