Starbucks is opening its first U.S. "signing" store in Washington, D.C., where all baristas will be proficient in American Sign Language.

(HuffPo notes that a signing Starbucks already exists in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.) The coffee chain's new store will be located near Gallaudet University, a school for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Deaf baristas will wear ASL aprons, while hearing workers will wear a pin that reads "I sign." Additionally, a visual display will show customers when their orders are ready rather than baristas calling out names and orders.
