Kindness Counts: Kasey's AECU Firehouse Random Act Of Kindness!

April 30, 2019

Over the past couple of months, I’ve had the opportunity to work with American Eagle Credit Union in celebrating their 80th anniversary by participating in random acts of kindness!

When I was brainstorming some random act ideas, I started to consider the little things that affect my daily routine. Immediately, I thought of the fire trucks, disrupting traffic & sounding the sirens as they come to or from their firehouse on Tucker, right in the middle of Downtown St. Louis. Each time that I see the firemen pull out onto the always-busy street, I can’t help but giggle as I watch the other drivers’ faces turn frantic as they try to make way for the trucks. All the while, the firefighters are the ones who look most calm, as they swiftly make their way through the crowds.

I knew that these were some of the people I wanted to thank & show appreciation for during this Random Acts of Kindness project. I decided not only to thank our local firemen, but also to bring them something to make their day a little bit sweeter.

On April 25, I made my way to the firehouse on Tucker (along with my partner in kindness, Katie Mohr) with a bag full of homemade brownies & cookies. The firemen who met us at the door were so kind & appreciative, that in that moment I knew that this was something I wanted to do again in the future.

It cost less than $10 to make all of the baked goods, & it took less than 30 minutes to brighten the day of people who serve us every day. Priceless!
